Schizotypal personality disorder is a condition in which a person exhibits eccentric behaviors and has difficulty maintaining close interpersonal relationships. There may be the presence of paranoid thoughts and disconnection from reality, such as magical thinking.
Symptoms of schizotypal personality disorder include a preference for being alone, difficulty expressing emotions, disorganization, and social anxiety. Paranoid and disconnected thoughts may also be present.
It is not clear what causes schizotypal personality disorder, but genetic and environmental factors are believed to play a role.
