The Complex Cardiac Intervention Center offers a comprehensive structure for minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment through catheterization, with four rooms dedicated to interventional procedures
Complex Cardiac Intervention Center
Key Differentiators
Structured procedures
Multidisciplinary approach
Individualized assessment (to identify the most appropriate treatment for each case)
Internationally recognized Center of Excellence
State-of-the-art equipment park, constantly updated
Patient follow-up after the intervention

Conditions Treated
At the Complex Cardiac Intervention Center, the Einstein team treats a wide range of heart diseases
Main Procedures

Treatment of severe coronary artery blockages
Treatment of severe coronary artery obstructions, such as in bifurcations, left main coronary artery, multiple lesions, and chronic occlusions, using stents to restore blood flow
Coarctation of the aorta repair
Procedure to treat congenital narrowing of the aorta, usually performed through angioplasty with stent placement to restore proper blood flow to the body
Transcatheter valve implantation (TAVI and others)
Minimally invasive valve replacement indicated for patients with severe stenosis or dysfunction of heart valves, such as aortic, mitral, pulmonary, and tricuspid valves
Patent ductus arteriosus closure
Closure of a persistent ductus arteriosus after birth, a common congenital condition, using catheter-based devices to prevent pulmonary overload
Interventional treatment of complex congenital heart diseases
Personalized percutaneous approaches to correct or relieve congenital heart defects, avoiding or postponing open-heart surgeries
Balloon mitral valvuloplasty
Dilation of the mitral valve using a balloon catheter, indicated for rheumatic mitral stenosis, improving symptoms and blood flow

Frequently Asked Questions
What is cardiology and why is it important for preventing and treating heart diseases?
Cardiology is the medical specialty that studies, diagnoses, and treats diseases of the heart and blood vessels. It helps prevent and treat heart attacks, arrhythmias, heart failure, and other conditions that can be severe or fatal
What are the warning signs of a possible heart disease and when should you see a cardiologist?
Chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, excessive fatigue, palpitations, fainting, and swelling in the legs are warning signs. You should see a cardiologist if you experience these symptoms or have a family history of heart disease
What tests can a cardiologist request to diagnose heart diseases and how do they work?
Electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, stress test, scintigraphy, CT scan, cardiac MRI, and catheterization evaluate the structure and function of the heart. These tests help identify blockages, arrhythmias, valve disorders, and heart failure. However, there are many other more specific tests used for diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions
What is interventional cardiology? For which patients is it indicated, and what are its advantages compared to open-chest surgical methods?
Interventional cardiology is the field that treats heart diseases using catheters inserted through puncture, without open surgery. It is indicated for patients with coronary obstructions, valve diseases, congenital heart disorders, or high surgical risk. It offers less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and lower risk of infection
What are the advantages compared to open-chest surgical methods?
It results in less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and lower risk of infection
In which situations is complex coronary angioplasty indicated?<br>
It is indicated when there are severe blockages in multiple vessels, in the left main coronary artery, or in long-standing total occlusions. In such cases, the procedure can help prevent heart attacks, relieve symptoms, and improve survival
When are percutaneous mitral valve repair (MitraClip™) or edge-to-edge repair (Pascal) indicated, and what are the benefits for advanced patients?
They are indicated for patients with severe mitral regurgitation who are not candidates for conventional surgery. These procedures reduce blood backflow in the heart and improve functional capacity and quality of life
In which cases is transcatheter valve replacement (TAVI) indicated, and how does it compare to conventional heart surgery?
It is indicated for patients with severe aortic stenosis, especially elderly individuals or those with high surgical risk. TAVI is less invasive than surgery, involves a shorter hospital stay, and carries a lower risk of complications in many cases
